VE Day Celebrations

We had a special day celebrating VE day.
Victory in Europe (VE) Day was on Tuesday 8 May 1945, when World War II was declared over.
Our residents marked the anniversary of this momentous historic occasion with a party.

The home was decorated with British flags and bunting galore, as well as trinkets and paraphernalia from the era.  We also had an entertainer, Tommy Donogan who entertained with war times songs. It was great to see the residents dancing and enjoying the afternoon, and of course that was followed with an afternoon tea with special themed cupcakes! Everyone enjoyed them.

Home Manager Margaret said: “VE Day is a very special time for our residents – it is both a poignant reminder of loved ones lost but also a day of great celebration. Many of them vividly remember the day the war ended and it was quite an emotional day, although an enjoyable one."
