New Views at Mossvale

The Team at Mossvale Care Home, a state of the art care home for the elderly in Glasgow’s East end, have been delighted to welcome a number of residents since opening in early 2014. Margaret Wilson, Head of Care at Mossvale, has over 30 years’ experience in care, and is confident that both residents and their families will feel very much at home at Mossvale.

She explained:

“It’s been great welcoming our new residents to the home – both those who are from the local area, and those who are travelling that little bit further to be with us. My team and I understand that choosing to move into care, and choosing a care home, is a big step and often not only a personal decision for residents, but their families too. That’s why at Mossvale Care Home our philosophy is all about “caring together” - we like to think of ourselves as an extension of our residents’ families, providing high standards of professional care with a personal touch and a focus on the individual.”

Ruby Hunter was Mossvale Care Home’s first resident, and used to live in the houses right next to the home – and enjoys the same view from her bedroom window.

Ruby said:

“It’s lovely here at Mossvale – it’s such a welcoming place, which has been very easy to call home. Even if I didn’t have the view, the staff have just made me feel so welcome and nothing is too much trouble.

It’s nice to be listened too and to hear your comments taken into consideration – I’d mentioned that it would be great when lying the bath if we could have a better view never thinking anything would happen. To my surprise the following week both bathrooms on my floor had huge murals on their walls - one of a tropical island and the other looking out to sea – so now I can enjoy a different view whenever I like!”

Ruby’s daughter Eleanor and son Robert are both very happy their Mum has settled well into Mossvale Care Home. Elleanor explained, “Having Mum here at Mossvale brings great peace of mind to all of the family. We know not only is she getting excellent care, but she’s really happy, too - we couldn’t ask for a better place for our Mum to be.”
